Electric Car Charger Options

Finding a location to charge your electric car near Andover is no problem, thanks to a large amount of charging stations available. However, you’ll find that having your own charging station at home is a more convenient option. While we understand having a charger at home may not be an option for every electric car driver, below you will find the three most common charging options:

  1. Domestic Outlet Home Charging (Regular Outlet) (Level 1 Charging): A standard grounded three-prong outlet that runs 110/120V will charge your electric vehicle’s battery in around 24 hours. This doesn’t offer the fastest method of charging, but you’ll be able to plug your car in overnight so that you have a full battery by morning.
  2. Installed Brand-Approved Domestic Charging (Level 2 Charging): This type of charging system runs around 240V+ and is professionally installed by an electrician. This will provide a faster charging time and can charge your electric vehicle’s battery in a matter of hours. The type of charger and vehicle you have will determine how fast it takes to get to a full battery, but some Level 2 home chargers can get up to 80% of a battery in about 30-40 minutes.
  3. Public Charging/DC Fast Charging (Level 2 Charging): These are the types of charging stations that are around Maize gas stations, malls, hotels, parking garages, and other areas. You can usually expect public electric car charging stations to charge your vehicle’s battery in about half an hour or so.

When in doubt about anything regarding your vehicle, just ask a technician and one of our service experts will be happy to help!

Are Electric Car Charging Stations Free?

Early on in your EV journey, you may not have access to charging your car at home, so a public charging station will be your best friend. Some public charging stations are free while others charge a fee, so it just depends on which one you choose. In the event you do find yourself needing to pay to charge your car, it’s important to know that you will be charged by the kilowatt-hour. Usually, you can expect to pay around $7 to fully charge your vehicle.
